The "SHORE: Transforming Students into Architects of Change" project aims to bring the ocean closer to students and teachers by actively involving them in achieving the Mission Ocean and Waters objectives. Through collaborative activities and projects conducted in schools, the project seeks to stimulate curiosity and deepen knowledge about the marine environment, thereby contributing to a better understanding and protection of the oceans.
As part of the SHORE project, partners will develop educational materials and courses aligned with the "Blue Schools" programs, targeting educational institutions in the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, as well as the Danube and Rhine basins. Participating schools will receive funding to implement projects related to marine and freshwater environment protection and awareness.
The most outstanding school project will be awarded the prestigious title of "Ocean Ambassador of the Year." Beyond granting funds, SHORE will serve as a comprehensive resource center and a collaboration catalyst, facilitating connections between researchers, relevant local actors, and schools in the targeted regions.
SHORE is a Mission Ocean and Waters project funded by the Horizon Europe research and innovation program. The total budget is €2,998,518.75, the project duration is 36 months, and it is coordinated by Yildiz Technical University, Turkey.
